It spawned a US adaptation, a second series, and a third one is being made. The cult following couldn’t get enough of Forbrydelsen and its obsessive, jumper-wearing detective Sarah Lund. And this despite it being 20 episodes long and broadcast in the original Danish with subtitles. The Killing proved to be a sensation when it appeared on British screens last March.
